Our Story

Changing Destiny started with a dream in 2015.

We dreamed, and we responded. We started doing what we could, with what we had — which has turned into a residential school with high-quality English education.

The Dream Began

A visit to Nepal changed the founder's life.

What started with a simple question — “How can we help just five little girls?” — led to establishing a non-profit with a residential school. Today, that dream has grown into a home, a classroom, and a future for over a hundred children.

The Dream Began

A visit to Nepal changed everything. Confronted with the reality of modern slavery, our founder returned home asking one question: how can we help just five little girls?

2016

The Residential School Opens

What began as an answer to one question became a non-profit organization with a residential school — and the first children began their journey towards a changed destiny.

Today

100+ Lives Changed

We've educated more than 100 children from vulnerable and at-risk communities, launched a Night Program for babies in red-light districts, and started a Beauty Program giving women a dignified, vocational path forward.

Our Logo

Two footprints. One changed destiny.

Our logo carries two changed-life footprints, purposely placed in opposite directions to symbolize change. The larger footprint belongs to a woman who once worked in the red-light district and is now a house mom on our outreach team, living with mission and purpose. Her desire is to see many lives changed just like hers.

The smaller footprint belongs to a child who was born in the brothel but was given the opportunity to be educated, and now has dreams of her own. After taking stamps of their feet, we created an outline to build our mark. The mandala pattern was hand-drawn to represent the region of our work, and the blue is the color of the anti-human-trafficking movement.

Our Mission

Empower • Educate • Repeat.

Our mission is to empower and educate vulnerable women and children affected by injustices like abuse, neglect, human trafficking, poverty, and lack of access to education.

Empower

Give knowledge to thrive

We empower the vulnerable by giving them the knowledge and confidence to thrive in society.

Educate

Teach through school & training

We educate the uneducated through primary school and vocational training that opens real doors.

Repeat

Until none are left behind

We repeat this cycle of empowerment and education until there is no one left to reach.

Our Impact

Real stories of changed destinies.

Names have been changed to protect identities — but these stories are real, and they're the reason we do this work.

Asha*

A life of dignity

The Changing Destiny team and our partners met Asha's aunt in the brothels and offered Asha a life of dignity in our school. Her aunt agreed to send her with the hope that she would grow up and get a good job as a teacher — live a life of dignity, and maybe one day help her aunt leave the sex trade.

Chaya*

A certificate, for the first time

Chaya was brought to one of Asia's largest red-light districts as a child and endured unimaginable abuse to pay off a trafficker's debt. Through Changing Destiny, Chaya graduated with a certificate for the first time in her life, completing a basic course in beauty training.

“This school is different. When I come here, I feel at peace. It feels like family.”
